Walker County Sheriff’s Office Receives Grant from
Governor’s Office of Highway Safety
The Walker County Sheriff’s office has been awarded an $8,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to purchase the Intoxilyzer 9000.
The Intoxilyzer 9000 is utilized in obtaining the implied consent state administered breath test for prosecution of DUI offenders.
According to GOHS data, there were 298 alcohol related fatalities in Georgia in 2010, and 52,775 impaired driving arrests during FY 2010.

During Monday night April 29, 2013, through Tuesday morning April 30, 2013, nine residences on Merrywood Drive, Still Water Drive and Dellwood Drive had vehicles entered and items stolen. We are asking all residents who might have seen anyone in the area walking, driving slowly, stopping in front of residences or acting suspiciously to contact Detective Dye at the following.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office will participate in the 6th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration this Saturday April 27, 2013, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
Residents can drop off unused or expired prescription drugs at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, 105 South Duke Street, Lafayette, Georgia.
A Walker County deputy will be on duty to assist residents.
In the five previous Take Back events, Drug Enforcement Administration, in partnership with state and local law enforcement have collected more than two (2) million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medication.
