Captain Patrick Stanfield
The Civil Process Division under the leadership of Captain Patrick Stanfield consists of a total of 13 full-time, 4 part-time deputies,
and 3 administrative personnel. This division is responsible for the service of all civil processes, court orders, and warrants from Superior, State, Magistrate,
Juvenile, and Probate Court. Deputies provide security for the courthouse and all courts. They are responsible for most prisoner transports and extraditions.
They also do mental health transports as required by Georgia law.
In 2011, the division served 4,211 civil papers, 135 Temporary Protective Orders, and 1,361 warrants. The division also provided 11,057 man hours of courtroom
and court house security and transported over 629 prisoners, traveling over 73,000 miles. The Court Services Division logged over 300,000 miles while performing
their duties.
In 2011 two of our administrative personnel were trained as GCIC Terminal Agency Coordinators and have assumed some of the duties associated with that
designation.
The division prides itself on the efficient use of taxpayers' resources along with professionalism.

How much are the service fees to have a civil papers served?
The fees set by Georgia state law are as follows:
Serving copy of process and returning original, per copy: $50.00
Serving process against tenant or intruder upon land to dispossess: $50.00
For dispossessing\ writ execution tenant or intruder: $25.00

As a general rule we can only do what we are ordered to do by any Georgia Court (Family Violence orders from other states is an exception to the rule since they can be enforced or served throughout the United States).

If the court has entered a order and the other party is failing to comply you should consult with a private attorney about the possibility of filing a contempt of court action.
"Dispossessory Proceeding"
Once we receive a Dispossessory Proceeding from the court we make every attempt to promptly serve the Dispossessory. Your address for service must be correct since this address will be used when and if the Magistrate Court issues a Writ of Possession to Evict. The deputy serving the dispossessory will enter a last date to answer on the Dispossessory and the service sheet. A copy of that service sheet will be mailed to you by U.S. Mail.
"Eviction (Writ of Possession)"
Evictions (Writs of Possession) are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. You can contact Civil Process at 706-638-1909 ext 1229 to schedule the eviction. A fee of $25.00 will be billed to you for the eviction [this fee is set by state law, O.C.G.A. .15-16-21(b.)(12)]. We schedule evictions to be completed in two (2) hours. Please schedule enough help to keep in the time limit. Deputies do not assist in the physical removal of property.
